Despite being the day after the close of Rock and Roll Revival and being a rainy night, there was a good turnout for this meeting. Items covered:
1. Floor for Grand March
  • Sandy Carpenter estimates that it would be about $600 to rent flooring from a company on the Western Shore.
  • It was suggested that we just give the Phys. Ed. department $1000 to purchase what they may want in terms of flooring
  • Sharon Birch will e-mail Dean Sullivan again about his preferences
  • Susan Flanagan will contact Value Carpet about carpet remnants and their suggestions
  • Grand March committee was able to go into the gym and view the floor cover currently being used during games. It was decided on the spot that the material being used is readily available at Lowe's. They will look into pricing and sizing.
2. Senior Class shirts will be distributed by the class officers during lunch this week. Presold shirts will be distributed prior to selling the extras that remain.
  • Princi and Niki at 1st lunch
  • Quinn at 2nd lunch
  • Erik at 3rd lunch
3. Leah Carpenter reported on the class preferences. These are the decisions made:
  • class flower is the sunflower
  • class colors are purple and yellow (which coincidentally are also the prom decoration colors)
  • class song is Don't Stop Believing, the Glee arrangement
  • class motto is: We are so good, we are #1 twice
4. Decorations have been ordered at a cost of $1810. These are decorations for both the Grand March as well as the Prom. Mr. Foltz has volunteered to help create an Arabian market/bazaar in the hallway that leads to the Rotunda at the Prom. Discussion was heard concerning favors available at the bazaar such as beads, gold coins, glo stick necklaces, etc.
5. Prom Invitations : Quinn will work with Makenzie in creating the invitation.
6. Prom King and Queen: Leah Carpenter will make a "Jafar" staff. Quinn has seen Arabian crowns, and will give the Decoration Committee the information.
7. Mrs. Birch will e-mail the JMB staff for Prom volunteers. She will also e-mail Kathy Elliott (junior class sponsor) to request that she ask for volunteers from junior parents at their next meeting.
8. Chocolate fountain for SU: The Hetzlers have one and so does Cindi Hildreth
9. After Prom party received very little support. Despite numerous petitions, the number of students saying that they would attend was 43. There will be no more discussion about the feasibility of this.
10. The budget could not be reviewed without Mrs. Titus being present. Nor could we discuss the results for the proposed senior class trip
11. The very important SU meeting will be taking place during the 3rd week of March (Mar. 21 - 25). All chairpersons and officers, as well as Mrs. Birch and Mr. Grudis, will attend this meeting. Mrs. Birch will e-mail the date within the next few days.
12. The next meeting is Monday, March 21 at 7:00.
